Spartan Jacksonville | Is OCR Back?
edited 2/28/21
Some race location have historical significance. However, Spartan Jacksonville is all about the future. Many are watching Jacksonville weekend to see if it truly is an indication of a return to normalcy. Forget that. The real question is whether the new normal, at least when it comes to OCR, is still something we can love!

It's clear that the crowds are smaller, but it's far from a ghost town. In fact, the weekend's Sprint, Super, and Trail races all sold out. That's a great sign for the industry. The remaining questions are whether people are having fun, and are they staying safe? It may be weeks before we truly no the answer to the latter question. Our prayers are that this Super doesn't prove to be a Super-Spreader event.
As for whether people are having fun, the response seems to be a resounding "Yes...ABSOLUTELY, YES!" As many have already shared on social media, they came looking to fill a void that has been growing for far too long.

LAST YEAR'S JACKSONVILLE
Jacksonville was supposed to be the big indicator of better days last year too. Many of us watched the finale of Spartan's Unbreakable CEO and believed Jacksonville was going to be the big turnaround. That turned out to be little more than wishful thinking. Though initial reports were that the event went well, we soon learned that it was just the beginning of what would be a long hiatus.
While the recap from 2020 is a cautionary tale of thinking we're out of the clear too soon, we don't have to look far to see the OCR community is more determined than ever to make sure we truly return to racing THIS YEAR!
